Dark and rainy here today, my favorite. Work days and weekends right now are made up of odds and ends, final details, seedlings of new projects, long walks with O, company in town, apple pie, and dreams of collaborations. But mostly, I'm on a mission to soak up these last magic months that lead up to the close of a year.
I've been enjoying the quiet of my studio lately, especially since my brain has been a buzzing idea factory this past month or so. It's either feast or famine for me, when it comes to inspiration hitting, and for a while there it looked like I'd forever be starved for ideas. But then something happened, as it always does, and poof! Ideas galore.
There will be projects, collaborations, news, and of course a new collection to share soon...but first a little more quiet. I'm not done bringing this batch of ideas to life just yet.
Kirsten from Design Marchand shared these on her blog yesterday, and I couldn't wait to post them. I just love that little chalkboard, pretty ingenious! Such a beautiful space, too, with all that sunshine streaming in. Thanks, Kirsten!
Have you heard about FELIZ? Feliz will be a celebration of handmade, beautifully planned and hosted by Abby Powell Thompson and Natalie Davis in Austin, this November. I'm over the moon that I'll be participating, and so excited to meet all the truly inspiring makers that will be there. Two winters ago, I traveled to Portland to participate in another of Abby's events, and if her latest endeavor is even a fraction of the fun Little Winter was, Feliz will be nothing short of magic. I can't wait! For those of you within a day's trip of Austin, or even beyond, I hope you'll join us - and say hello!
In addition to selling wares, some folks will be giving workshops the day before the sale, I'm so happy & honored to be included in the line up, there are some seriously amazing workshops planned. I only wish I could attend, too! I love that Abby and Natalie wanted to provide an opportunity for makers to spend more time sharing what they love with folks attending the event. Getting out of the studio, getting to talk about what I love, share a project, make new friends - it's a dream come true, and definitely what I'm looking forward to most!
My workshop is centered around creating a keepsake. Each participant will be given their own giant, gorgeous shadowbox to display either a cherished photo, or favorite quote (or even a bit of both) along with a decal of their choosing. Folks will have the option to have their captions and quotes hand lettered by me at the workshop, or do their own lettering, if they wish.
I've created several of these keepsakes, for friends, clients and myself, and I always love the results. It's a fun and heartfelt project, and makes for a beautiful holiday gift (for yourself or a loved one). More details about the class can be found at the listing, but if you're interested, and have questions, please feel free to email me! I'd love to see you there!
It was a delightful surprise, as a regular reader of Tamera's blog, to find the Ribboned Half Garland had made its way into her home via one of my favorite stockists, Clementine. I just love how quietly it sits there, above the bed. There's only a few more days this decal will be available. If you love it, it's time to scoop it up!
A quick note: I've reopened the shop a bit early. Lots of kind requests came in last week asking if it would be possible to have one last chance to purchase designs that will soon be retired. How could I say no? An email went out to my mailing list with all the details, but if you're not on the list you can read it here.
P.S. This space has been a little heavy on shop news and happenings lately, as there's been lots to share. Thanks for hanging in there!
Today is the day in between what I have made and what I will make. Taking some time today to quiet down, before I tuck into my sketchbook tomorrow. I rather like this quote by Louise Hay, have you heard it? "Every thought we think is creating our future."
An old favortie of mine from Jen of Haystack Needle, I love how she's used the Summer & Citrus Garlands. And that gorgeous blue paint! So good.
A quick reminder: Today is the last day to take advantage of the Summer Days sale and receive 10% off your total purchase (our only sale of the year). More importantly, it's also the last day to purchase any of the decals being retired at the end of the day today! All of the designs that will be retired have been marked down and listed with SALE! in the shop. Lastly, the shop will close at 10pm tonight for two weeks while I focus my efforts on the new collection. It's going to be a good one, I think.
I'm feeling a little nostalgic about retiring a few of the designs, particularly this one, but I'm so looking forward to freshening things up. Some of these designs have been going strong for two years now! Change is good!
Hello, friends! Though I hate to bore you with tedious shop news on a Friday (almost feels like homework!), there are some gems of info tucked in below, I promise!
A quick reminder: There are only 5 days left to take advantage of the Summer Days Sale going on over at the shop. Recieve 10% off your entire purchase when entering the code SUMMER at checkout, through July 31st.
Soon to be retired designs: Additional markdowns have been made on each of the designs that will be retired after the sale. Those designs marked with SALE! will no longer be available after the 31st.
Some of the more popluar sayings featured in the retired designs will be given new life and new garlands when the Autumn/Winter collection launches, but others will be retired for good. If any of these designs has been on your list, now's your chance to scoop one up!
Soon to be retired colors: It's also your last chance to order designs in neon pink or mint. We'll be bidding these fun summer colors a fond farewell after the 31st.
Two weeks away: August 1st - 13th our shop will be closed while we focus our efforts on bringing the new Fall/Winter collection to life. When we reopen on the 14th we'll be sure to include a few new listings to tide you over until the full Autumn/Winter collection launches in September!
Lastly: I hate to sound sales-y, as this email is already overloading you with info, but if you'd like an early peek at the new collection before it launches, be sure to sign up for the mailing list, here.
Phew! Happy Friday, Shanna
P.S. The photo above was taken at one of my most recent stockists, House Envy, in the UK. They just had their grand opening last night (congrats, Nicola!). I thought it a fitting shop to feature on Opening Ceremony day. Can't wait!
